how do i make my vertex2e ssd perform garbage collection. and how often sould i do this?

It does it whenever the drive is idle automatically, though if TRIM is active it isnt even needed. It's main use is allowing you to RAID multiple sandforce drives

It is needed though, since TRIM isn't used the same on Sandforce drives. On say an Intel drive when a TRIM is performed the performance is back there and then, on a Sandforce drive Duraclass decides when to actually TRIM cells and it can take days or longer for performance to recover.
