I've just bought a SanDisk Mobile ULTRA microSDHC card (with reader) from a well known internet bookshop.

The photo showed the card to be a Class 4. Although the class was not listed in the technical specifications.

The American version of this site also shows the card to be a Class 4, and does list the class in the specifications as being a Class 4.

As I understand it, if it's a SanDisk Ultra, it must be a Class 4.

The card arrived today, and it says it's a Class 2!!

I feel like I've been had, and I don't know what to do. For the price I paid, it really should have been a Class 4.

I'm only back in UK for a few days, so I don't think I will have enough time to buy the correct version. My main reason for buying this is to view movies on my Samsung i8000 phone without lag. I suppose I could buy the Class 4 version from Hong Kong (they tell me theirs is a Class 4) and have it delivered to my Chinese address, but I would have to wait about 3 weeks for delivery.

I'd like to test the read/write speed of the card that arrived today, but there's no way of opening the package without ripping it apart.

Any suggestions about what I should do? Do you think this Class 2 ULTRA will be fast enough?

Do you think this Class 2 ULTRA will be fast enough?

what do you plan to do with it? if you're going to be using it to record live 1080p video in a Digital Video Camera, then no.

on the other hand, if you're going to be using it in your phone then it'll be completely fine. phones are still not fast enough to max out the transfer speed of a class 2 card.

I want to watch movies on my phone. I used to watch movies on my old Dell Axim PDA, and needed a fast card, otherwise I got some laggy parts in some of the movies.

Just looking on their website (SanDisk), I don't see any mention of 'ULTRA' When it comes to their micro SDHC...

Doing a google, there do seem to be people selling 'ultra' printed versions that are class 6.. does yours have 'ultra' screen printed on it? if not, it's not an ULTRA?

That was my first thought, especially since I live in China. However, I bought this from a well-known internet book store directly, so I think it should be legit.

I've checked the product number on the internet, and other sites also say it should be a class 4. My only thought is that Sandisk have re-labelled the same product to Class 2, because some items can't sustain the class 4 transfer speed requirements. And I'm hoping that mine might be faster than a Class 2.

However, I'm not sure I can take the risk. I think I might just send this back. And buy the correct product from Hong Kong.

i watch high-bitrate feature length films (transcoded from DVD, of course) on my milestone which has a class 2 Sandisk 8GB microSD card and they play 100% fine :)

Yes, it does actually say both on the package :

And on the card itself :

Ironically, it says it's made in China, but all of the normal shops I buy my computer equipment from in China don't have a listing for this.

This is good news, because your phone's resolution is even higher than mine. I'm starting to think maybe I should risk it now!

im sure trading standards would be well interested if they are showing images of one item and sending out a different and lesser one
