Okay may seem a silly question but I cant seem to find it, What is the default Voltage for a 2500K Sandy Bridge CPU?

Mine is quite happily sitting at 4200Ghz but CPU voltage is 1.3.

You'll need to download the program Core Temp to check the VID (default voltage) of your chip, it'll vary a bit from one 2500k to another.

No because when Intel make the chips they don't all turn out exactly the same, the VID (or default voltage) is around 1.2V from what I remember, but like I said it'll vary a bit from one chip to another.

Ahhhhh well there you go! everyday is a school day as they say. Thanks for the info!

or as the CPU comes under load the Vcore will increase to deal with the extra CPU Load.

Idle CPU-Z reports mine at 0.952v (1600mhz).

Under load reports mine at 1.264v (4300mhz).

but i only got it yesterday, need to play more! :)

is it best for me to keep it on auto when overclocked? I have it running fine at 4200Mhz but manually set the voltage to 1.3v

In other words am I right in thinking if I set it to auto and it requires more volts it will adjust accordingly?

Thanks for the help
