Possibly - you would certainly need to keep an eye on temps though. Personally I would leave the fan set on auto as these cards are reputably quiet anyway - still waiting for my Sapphire 5970 Vapour x to come into stock.
Don't bother fiddling with the fan, it does a good job itself. Although you'll actually have to open your case and sit 3 feet from it to hear the difference
Just purchased to replace my 4870 1GB. I realise there may not be much performance increase (or any) but the silence and lower power usage, along with Dx11 and crossfire in the future was enough to sway me.
Bought one of these the other day, absolutley fantastic card, pumping out all my games on full whack so i'm happy.
Will look at getting another one in a few months but will have to change my mother board because as far as I am aware it doesn't support Cross Fire but it will be due a change by then anyway.
If anyone is deciding between this and another card then I would definately suggest this. great value for money, great power usage and cooling (not seen the fan speed above 46% yet!) and the fact that it has Direct X 11 just makes it a no brainer buy.
Thanks again OCUK look forward to doing business again in the future
