Sapphire 5870 - My thoughts and impressions

OK I've read I could only do tri monitor output with a 5870 1GB.

Hmm, what kind of AT card would suit acting as a video card for the extra monitor (or two >.<). I have no idea when it comes to ATI cards so I need something to run aero, some video and be quiet and light on power. Any help would be appreciated :).

Of course. I'm saying that bit-tech must be wrong. Most of the other reviews have some kind of overclock info. Did you read the post I was quoting?

Don't take offense I was just clarifying for people that this wont necessarily be a clock speed you will reach when overclocking your card.

I havent read the bit tech review but saying you cannot overclock a card based on beta drivers is a bit presumptuous... Perhaps they were just saying that they could not show the readers any overclocks due to the current software limitations?

Cheers for the mini review mate.

Really would like to try one but the noise is putting me off. Never bought a 4890 but had a 4870. Is the 4890 louder than the 4870 or about the same?

If you were closer m8 I'd say pop over to check it out :)

But imo the 4870/4890/5870 are much of a muchness when it comes to noise levels (from memory)

Think I'm going to wait for Vapor X model or other with a quieter cooler. I'm pretty sure I put the 4870 under water due to the noise. It's been a struggle to hold back today. I love shiny new toys.

Enjoy your new card mate and thanks again for the info :)

Jedifragger, please tell me are you familiar with how loud the 487x2 stock fan is? if so how would you say the 5870 fan compares to it?
thx
