Sapphire x850

Just use ATi Tray Tools and set an overclock profile with those speeds, you can then set that profile to activate on startup. :) Violá.

In fact, I think Catalyst Control Centre can do that too.

I think you can also use ATi Tray Tools to dump the clock speeds to the BIOS, not certain though as I've not used it in some time.

Hi ted34!

Are you sure you want to flash it's bios? That kinda stuff scares me a little! I have a connect 3d x850xt with an arctic cooler on board and it's presently runninig happily at 619mhz on the core and 1192mhz on the memory. Doesn't go over 60 degrees C playing oblivion!

Surely that's way fast enough and for the risk of a flash i'd stick with it's standard xt bios.

Your call though! ;)

Thats a hell of a clock on the core. Im unsure on mine as i have taken core up to 570 and then 3d06 locked at firefly sceen. Weird thing was i didnt see any artifacts or anything prior to this. Load temps dont go above 50 with the zalman. Im not sure if its to do with using a 24" at 1920 x 1200?

May well be the resolution of the screen - i tend to run older games at between 1600x1200 and 1280x1024 and newer games from 1280x1024 down to 1024x768 if needed.

I've never had any stability issues in 3d mark 05 or 06 and my games run rock solid too! No artefacts and no temps above 60 degrees C on the GPU. The case is an antec p180 but it's airflow at present is less than ideal - i reckon the x850 would run closer to 55 degrees if i improved the internal layout of certain components!

My system spec's are as follows:

A64 3700 @ 2.4ghz (arctic cooling freezer 64 pro)
4gb DDR
Sapphire Pure Advantage Crossfire mobo
2x 120gb Seagate Barracuda's in Raid 0
Tagan 2force 580 watt PSU
Windows XP x64

My load temps are 54. Just looked at 3d settings and resolution is set to 1024 x768. ati tool locked up at 571 on core. Currently just running 3d05 with 520,605.

spec is: fx60@ 2.9ghz
dfi expert
corsair 2gb 3200c2 @ 195 , 2,3,2,5
sapphire x850xt, vf700cu
tagan 530 u22
3x seagate drives, x-fi pro, dell 2405

shouldnt be psu problem or heat as in ecipse 62 and my temps r good.

have tried putting pci express freq up to 110 but doesnt seem to have helped. chipset is at 1.5v, ldt 1.2v

3d05 just crashed at 520,610 - no sign of artifacts before thou

Hi welshtom,

The last time i did them (2 months ago) i got 6942

Data's below - futuremark never has listed the core and mem speeds on the card for some reason!

Date: 2006-03-16
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 2420 MHz
GPU: ATI RADEON X850 XT
N/A / N/A
OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Res: 1024x768@32 bit

Incidentally, that's 900 points more than i got with the card a standard clocks! :) However, i don't know how it rates against most other people's results?!

FAO ted34: Awesome rig! Wish i had your CPU darn it!!! ;)

Don't know why you're havin a problem? Maybe a graphics driver issue?! Also, which Catalyst Control Centre version are you using? I had problems with version 6.3 with lock ups and such - when 6.4 came out it worked just fine! Maybe it's what's causing your problems in 3d mark?!

No am on 6.4 drivers after getting random loack ups in windows using 6.3. 6.4 seems to have fixed that. 3d 05 just crashes 3d05 rather than whole comp. Think i'll just settle on pe speeds and flash it to them

By the way what does pci express freq do?

Atleast it's just 3d mark then! :)

Keep us posted on how you get on - i'd be most interested to see how you do! :D

You could try 3d mark 06 i suppose - just to see if that lock's up too!

I got an embarrasing 2298!!! :o

Think i may be somewhat 'everything' limited!!!

went over to 3d05 as welshtoms suggestion - 3d06 locked whole comp - at least 3d05 just crashes its own program

Just looked on sapphire website for x850xt pe bios - the files are winflash for motherboards and a bios for one of their boards. Just downloaded the atiflash on the x850xt and bios from techpowerup

Update: Had to use atiflash from techpowerup as that was able to force bios. Did this and then rebooted - was then at xt pe speed but the catalyst control panel didnt recognise the card so have had to flash back. Will see if any other sites have original xt pe bios or if anyone on here has xtpe bios that i could use

yea, as i said, 05 is a lot quicker so if its solid settings you can move on.

I dotn know why you are crashing though. The bios flash is easy enough. I did it in dos everytime.

Gt i had just over 8k with my x850xt :)

Tom

That's excellent welshtom!

I just tried it again and improved a little bit to 6959!

Can't seem to break 7k - gonna try upping the cpu speed but think my mobo may possibly be the weak link! :(

Flashed to sapphire x850xt pe and then uninstalled all ati stuff and reinstalled it and thats sorted it. All running at pe speeds now

If it was anything like the flash I did on my X800 then you'll find it'll run cooler at PE speeds.
