HD 4850 512MB, HD 4870 1GB / 2GB

Sapphire just showed us a few brand new Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB and Radeon HD 4850 512MB cards with fancy coolers, and according to company representatives, these cards should be available shortly.

A 2GB version of the HD 4870 is also planned, and it will look like the longer of two on the picture below. We will update you with some additional information, as we simply managed to get the pictures of the cards that have just arrived at Cebit 2009, or Sapphire's booth to be exact.

They both look nice and we can tell you that the cooler is made from some sort of plastic, but it really looks nice and beats the reference one.

I don't know why anybody would bother buying a graphics card on the basis of its looks. Once inserted into the machine you A) don't see it any more and B) ends up covered in dust.

Shows you how fickle and reliant on trends this industry really is.

Yeah but some people have windows on their cases so they can show off the dust on the components. I have heard that some owners even put neon lighting in to make the dust look even better.

lights look quite good in a case with a window side , i have some in mine (blue) to match my fans and coolant.:p
Makes the dust glow a nice colour to remind me that i need to clean it out:D

Dont you want your components to look sexy aswell?

Wow these look really nice, and it seems like the same heatsink fan that is on Sapphire's current 4830/4850 cards with the shorter blue PCB is used in this one too, only now with that black glossy shrouding. Hopefully it will cool as well as their current cards because it really is that good.

Because some people simply don't get that computer components can and never will be 'sexy'.. No matter how long you haven't had a girlfriend for.

I hope this Rev.3.0 HD4800 cooler is better than the first two!

The first one was very quiet but scorching, the second one was cool as a cucumber but noisy!

I'm one of those peeps with big ears and I notice a noisy fan lol! :p
