Hello all,

I am looking for a slim and well priced sat nav (for example S30?) that is good enough for walking also.

Anyone has experience with sat navs used for both walking and driving or no such thing exists and is better to buy one for each task?

thanks a lot.

What mobile phone do you have?

A decent Symbian S60 phone makes for a decent TomTom! And the software + Bluetooth GPS reciever work out cheaper too.

How much is the software? Is there any available that work with the N95's internal GPS?

I am using Garmin XT on my N95 8GB and it works a treat with the internal GPS. I've now sold my Streetpilot as my phone does just as good a job.

the N95 is a good phone for sat nav due to the huge screen. I dont know if TomTom yet works with the internal GPS, but personally I wouldnt bother. I was sat in the garden for about 10 mins with my sisters and it still didnt get a strong enough signal to tell me where I was. I use a Bluetooth device (£30) with my N73 and TomTom and love it, even if the screen is a little small.

EDIT: TomTom maps are £80+ (depending on how many maps you want).

I have a N95-8GB with the latest firmware, and its no where near as accurate in the car as say a tomtom, i use it with Garmin XT, and tbh its to buggy to rely on it as your only source, too bloody annoying imo.

I got a cheapy sat nav from a competitor and put tomtom on that and its way way better that any nokia phone ive had for satnav.

I use Garmin XT and prefer it to Tom Tom overall... I use it with the Nokia N82 and i couldn't be happier with it, it doesn't skip a beat. Why buy a separate Sat-nav when a phone does such a good job with the added bonus of being about 10x more portable?

Except it doesnt do as good a job, its actually quite poor, the accuracy is off, especially in built up areas, and its slow at recalculating.Even with the A-Gps its not the fastest thing to lock on.As i say it may be fine walking around, but it leaves a lot to be desired in the car.

My N82 locks on within 10 seconds in most cases even from a cold start, and works fine even in the center of London (Holborn). As for accuracy i've not experienced any, and that is on trips ranging from local jaunts to places I haven't been to through deep countryside, to my Nans in bradford which is 200 miles away. How is that not doing a good job? :)

Doesnt work for me, and countless others reading around on the t'interweb.Ultimately it wont be as accurate, as it can only pick up 8 sats.

Standing still outside, it locks on reasonably quickly (20-30 secs), it gets confused easily and and takes a while to correct itself, simply not good enough in my book.

Well I guess we must have had different experiences then... I went from a Tom Tom One and have never looked back... what phone did you use it on?

I d prefer a build for purpose device like S30 navman. Anyone has any experience with this? I found them cheap as low as 80quid.
