Just put together a system primarily for FSX using a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R mobo, i7 950 CPU, Kingston HyperX 12800c7 RAM, MSI GTX 460 Hawk graphics card. I will be using 2 WD Caviar Black Sata 3 6gb/s 640 gb hard drives, one for Windows 7 HP 64 bit and other progs etc, and the other purely for FSX. Which SATA controller should I use? From what I've read it seems there may be problems with drivers if I use the Marvell controller, which is the only one which supports SATA 3, or should I use the ICH10R controller which some say performs better at 3gb/s than the MArvell does at 6gb/s. Also how should the controllers be set up in the BIOS, EID or AHCI?, I do not intend having a raid setup. I have not yet istalled the O.S. as I would like to get this right first.
