Sata 3?

Hi i need a new hard drive cos my current one is so slow, does anyone know if theres going to be a sata 3? if so ill wait for that

I wouldn't bother waiting. Some of the fastest desktop drives are still SATA I and quite popular.

Whats the drive to be used for?

Agree with what Imy said.

SATA 1 has a theoretical transfer rate of 150MB/sec and I don't think any non-RAID drive will approach that, let alone SATA 2. (please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong

just games, so a sata 1 is a better choice than a sata 2? i saw a sata 2 320 gb from ocuk thats sata 2 and 16 mb cache, thats a pretty nice hdd right?

forget about that sata I/II/III nonsense. None of the drives available today can sustain a trasfer rate that'll stress sataI, let alone anything else.

The fastest desktop drives you can get (excluding a raptor) are the seagate barracadu 7200.10's. any size will do, with the 320gb getting my vote for price/storage space.

yea lol, its like a 7800 or 7900, 7900 sounds better and is better because its a higher number. Shame price goes up to though

Get a Seagate 7200.10 - it's at the forefront of new drive tech and is a very good drive being a Seagate, no doubt - and if you look at the owners of those drives, you will see how happy they are.

Is a 6 lane motorway with little traffic on better than a three lane one? No, same with sata mate. It would need to be about 20000 rpm to even saturate the current bus.

What do you mean by 'so slow'? Cos apart from the slight hiccup when loading games/stages I DO NOT find my SATA hd/s anybit slow! Nor ever found it sluggish in anyway, though I've nothing else (e.g. Raptor, SCSI) to compare with & I mean real-life not benchies!

TBH, how you arrange your disk/partitions can make a huge diff + regular defraging!
