Just wondering what makes/types of SATA cables other people use/recommend, up till not I have just used the ones that come with my motherboards...so would like (if possible) recommendations for cables, but not exceeding £5 per cable.....

Thanks :)

seeing as SATA cables are digital and short, i really cant see any room for improvement on an aftermarket cable, apart from usefulness (ie right angle connectors etc

As Devil_Spawn says they're digital items and over relatively short runs so they either work or they don't, if you want longer cables or need right angled connectors as suggested then you have to go aftermarket, otherwise the ones supplied with the motherboard should be as good as any others.

Gigabytes SATA cables are the best imo as they have a clip system that holds them in far more securely than the standard SATA cables other motherboard company’s use.
But as others have said as far as speed goes they are all the same tbh.

I am using some Gigabyte cables at the moment in one of my desktops, and they do appear to be better than those that came with my Asus mobo...

Well, it looks like I'll just save my money then....;)

I have never had the "latch" sata cables and never had one of the normal sata cables "disconnect" itself from the motherboard or drive and this has been since sata was released!

Do people open their cases and pull the cables whilst their PC is on? I have always found the normal (non-latched) ones to be very stiff to remove and insert! The 3rd party ones I use are newlink ones for £1.60 each (and right angled).

anyone who buys a aftermarket SATA cable for improved performance is just chucking money away... digital signals are either received or not, and if your drive works fine then keep your stock ones :) (you'd need metres of SATA cable length before cable quality really had any effect, and I'm sure everyones cases are not that tall lol)

the 'clip' ones were a nice idea... but I've seen so many broken drives because of these and modern SATA sockets / plugs are much better than the early ones and stay in place.
