Hiya Guys!

Ok someone will know the answer I seek im sure lol

I got one of these HDs

http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-053-SA

now, its a SATA II item, so, is there a difference between the SATA cables?

i ask as I spent 40 quid at the OC shop here yesterday to get these

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-015-AK

It says there SATA no mention of SATA II do I need different cables or is there really no difference?

and whats the difference between SATA and E-SATA?

TIA :)

Chris

the E in E-SATA stands for external, you link external hard drives via a E-SATA port on either fron of your case or rear I/O ports panel. Re SATA/SATA II afaik it doesnt matter re cables

It doesn't matter about cables, all SATA cables are the same. Remember to remove the little jumper on the hard drive itself though for full 300 Mbps operation.

I've never heard of needing different cables for SATA and SATA II.

like thrifles said, eSATA is for external devices and hasnt really picked up that well, I think USB3 will kill it off completly.

i cant see any jumpers on the HD there suppose to be on the rear next to the sata connection ??

Cant say im too impressed with OC UK Description of the EL Cables.... shows a nice red glowing SATA Cable, doesnt show another cable trailing off, with a rather large plastic box and a normal molex power connecter......

Cable management idea completely trashed lol
