SATA drive compatibility

Hello,

Just a quick question, can I put the latest all singing & dancing SSD drive into an a 4 year laptop using an original SATA port?

I'm building a new computer over several months to spread the cost & if I buy the SSD first I'm hoping to use it in my laptop for a while & reap the benefits it brings. For info the laptops chipset is an Intel i945PM

You should be fine, the drive would run at the max speed of the port / sata chip.
