sata drive help

Hi, i just recently bought another 160GB sata drive. But if i have both my old 160GB drive, and the new connected to the two normal sata ports it cannot detect either hard drive, and the new one is not detected on its own either. Yet if i connect the new drive the the sata raid connector, on its own, it detects the drive. Whats going on?!

are any jumpers or settings in the bios set to recognise all sata ports, ie enabled?

The new drive is not detected by bios by itself either on the normal sata connector.

What about plugging the old drive in to the other "normal" sata connector? Does it detect that drive then?

Yup. im just installing it on the raid connector, just means i have to wait for the bios for it to load when starting up

Turned out i had somehow broken the connector on the drive. Great, brand new drive gone to waste.
