Hi guys have just bought a WD 320gb sata II drive of the MM today just wanted to check a couple of things please.

I currently have a drive plugged into sata 1 and will put the new drive into sata 2 on the mobo.

Do I need to change any jumpers on the new drive?

Also after installing and booting the pc will windows just recognise the HD or do I need to do something from within windows?

Finally last question:D Currently my dvd drive is set to D will this mean that the new sata drive will be set to E?,and if so is there anyway to set it as D and change the DVD to E?(Hope that makes sense.

cheers all,

Joseph.

EDIT

ALso my rig is a 4 years old so I presume it will be Sata 1 will that be a problem

There are no jumpers to change. You may need to add one across a couple of pins to force the interface to SATA150 but only if your board can't auto negotiate the speed.

Depending on what's been done to the drive by the previous owner you may need to partition and format it in Disk Management (right click on My Computer and pick Manage). You'll be able to re-arrange the drive letters in there too.
