sata drive +ssd

hi guys can anyone give me any advice /steps on how to add a sata hdd to a pc already running a samsung 850 evo ,i only have 40gb free left of the 250 ssd and i have a 500gb sata drive lying around and thought i could use that for pics/films/some games ,i have been looking for videos but they only seem to show adding a second sata to a pc that already has a sata

just plug it in, it will show as another drive.
If you cant see it go to disk management and format/ assign a drive letter from there
