SATA hard drive issue

I am trying to run a hard drive checker on a WD hard drive. The drive is SATA. After the program runs it says no hard drive found? There is hard drive installed and it has windows 7 on. I can boot into windows ok. I just want to do a full hard drive check to see if that has any problems.

I know it is a BIOS setting I have to change but which one? I am using an ASUS P8P67 Pro.

When you say 'Harddrive checker' what software are you using? Is it the Western Digital diagnostic utility?

Sounds like you're using some sort of bootable hard drive checker?

Might have to change the AHCI mode over to IDE?

That was it. I am running WD diagnostics.
