I have a temp Pc while i get my motherboard fixed after it screwed up during Bios update. But i cannot get this Pc to boot from the sata. I have windows on an old IDE drive which boots up fine but when i go to boot from the Sata drive, I just get a BSOD just as it gets on to the windows logo. It has no problem detecting etc, as it appears in bios and i can read it while im booted from the IDE drive. I have tried every setting in the Bios that i could fine. I tried different GFX cards, ive tried resetting bios. I cant think what it could be other than a problem with windows. And sugggestions?

Sometimes it's just quicker to re-install than to fix it.

There is an option to repair XP but I would do a web search on the correct procedure.
This just replaces all the files but keeps your data so I belive.

If you get it wrong though as I did you will have to do a complete re-install and you've lost your data.

Indeed.

Was the SATA drive copy of Windows installed on the temp PC? If it's been transferred from another machine it may have the wrong SATA drivers installed.
