hi,

Are non SATA II motherboard such as Nforce 3 Shuttle compatible with SATA II harddrive?

Are there such things such as SATA II serial cable?

thanks

All new SATA Hard Disks manufactured are SATA II - of course the manufactures are not that du... let's just say there's a jumper on the actual HD that can disable SATA II mode and make it work on your 'old' motherboard :D

Cables, I think there all the same - wait for someone to clarify that.

EDIT: Got a 80GB SATA II WD working on my 'old' A8V Deluxe :)

From the sticky:
3. Is there a different data cable for 'SATA-II' drives?

- SATA-II drives still use the standard 7-pin SATA cable (as with SATA 1 drives)

4. Will my new SATA-II drive work on my SATA-1 controller (and vice versa)?

- SATA-II drives are backwards compatible with SATA-1 controllers (and vice versa, SATA-II controllers are backwards compatible with SATA1 drives).
