SATA II > SATA I

Hello, I wanted to know if a SATA II HDD works on a SATA I Mobo. I know it would most probably be degraded to 150gb/s but does it have any other impacts or should I go for a SATA I HDD. I only ask as my father is haivng my old computer and he wants another HDD and the mobo only supports SATA I.

Most SATAII drives come set to SATAI speeds, and you have to run a low level app on them to turn on the 300Mb speed (or a switch on the back for the more friendly drives) so yes, should work fine.

It will work, but as you say will 'only' transfer at 1.5GB/s.
