Looking at getting a 1tb for my new system.

What would be faster?
What would be quieter?

1tb External drive

or

1tb Sata-II 32mb?

it would depend on if you were using a USB or eSata connector, esata has a similar speed to an internally connected drive. as for noise it would depend on if the external case has a fan or not. an internal drive won't be very noisy especialy if you reduce any vibration.

so for the questions you asked either would be fine, the next question is what are you going to be using it for? if you want to be able to access the data on other PCs go for an external
 
I would be using it to move things from one pc to another etc...

Could you spec me an eSata external hard drive.

Would i need a special card to conect it?

buy an icybox 390
buy a wd green power 1tb (quietest 1tb drive)

i've got a samsung F1 1tb in my 390, and it's quiet enough tbh... i've got a 1tg GP in my media centre pc
 
Western Digital good drives still?

I've stuck with Hitachi for years now.

Going to have 2x250gb's in my sff pc and then the 1tb external drive.
