Ok so I have a ASUS Gene-Z motherboard and I have two M4's plugged into the 6Gb/s sockets on the motherboard, these are in raid 0 and I'm eagerly awaiting RST 11.5 :D I'm looking for a 4x PCIe 6Gbps controller which will give me full read and write speeds on my Agility 3 drive. A couple of weeks ago I bought the ASUS US36 usb 3 / sata controller only to find out it uses a crappy controller which is actually slower than plugging the drive into one of the free 3Gb/s ports on my board :( Can anyone recommend a controller card that does as advertised? I was lured in by ASUS's specifications but it seems to be impossible to obtain the transfer speeds as advertised.

Any thoughts or input will be greatly appreciated, as always :) cheers

I can't see anything that fits your requirements on ocuk. They have a few startech ones but I dont think they are any better than the ASUS you bought. If someone wants to prove me wrong though then all the better!

I don't think I've seen a controller card that can supply max SATA 3 speeds.

Really it's best to use the native SATA 2 ports, they're far more stable and better to use even though they're slower speeds.

theres two types of marvell controllers the early one gives poor speeds, the later one matches the intel sata3 speeds but i wouldnt like to use raid on them, only on intel ports

Thanks guys my next question is which use the newer marvell controller? I'm not planning on running RAID on it, it's really just so I can make full use of my Agility 3 drive and maybe add another M4 at a later date. It's a shame the board\chipset doesn't support more than two Sata III ports :(
