Hi,

I have a Gigabyte DS3 and it has an option in the bios for SATA legacy or Native mode?

Does anyone know what the difference is as? I have installed windows and it's running fine in Legacy mode but wanted to know what Native was.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

I think sata legacy is if you are running an ide drive.
Sata native runs the hdd as a true sata drive.
I have a similar motherboard (set to sata native) and a 160gb sata2 samung and the drive appears in the 'safely remove hardware' list (because sata is hot swapable).
