Does anybody successfully run a sata optical drive off an onboard jmicron sata port?
I've got problems with it hanging the OS badly whenever windows explorer or anything tries to look at 'my computer' or the file system. It causes the OS to hang and stutter at startup for ages too. MoBo in question is a P35C DS3R.
I've bought a PCI sata card which I run the DVD drive off now but of course this means I can't boot from CD/DVD.
I think I've tried every driver rev I can find but it makes no difference!
Can anybody help?

I had similar issues with a DVD-RW drive, what i needed to do was enable the JMicron boot rom in the bios, if i didn't do this my DVD-RW would run in Multi Mode 2 instead of UDMA 4, so check that JMicron the boot rom is enabled, it may or may not work.
