Hi, I just ordered the today only combo deal (GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 Motherboard & Corsair 16GB LPX 2400MHz DDR4 Bundle). I need an ssd to pair it with. Would you go sata or M.2? Thanks.

How much of an performance though ? as i understand the speeds are quite similar fro M2 and conventional SATA drives.

Depends what you buy. Like I said m2 can run on the SATA bus so there isn't any speed differences but if you get the Samsung 950 PRO
