Sata 3 devices will work on a sata 2 motherboard, and vice versa. The sata standards are backwards compatible.

Ah awesome thanks for clearing that up mate. On another note, is that mobo any good? Seems to have everything I need and not to fussed about over clocking at the moment?

Do you need the mobo to be mini-itx? In truth going with a small form factor isnt cheap.

Gigabyte mobos are good. They have a dual bios (nice safety feature) and a 3 year uk based warranty.

The "problem" with the H61 mobos is that they don't have sataIII support (GBs H61-D3V being a rare exception but its mATX) and they don't offer overclocking (not that you can OC the i3 anyway).

If you have to have a mini-itx mobo I would look at THIS. Granted it's more money but it has wifi included, being a Z77 it has sataIII (6 Gb/s) and could overclock an i5K or i7K if you upgraded to one down the road, even if it was a 2nd hand CPU.

Yeah got a mini itx/atx case so gotta be. Yeah looked at that before but so expensive when im not really planning to overclock, so probably abit too much mate. Any other chipset that is any good?
