I have an Abit IP35-Pro mobo, and have recently gotten 2 WD Velociraptor drives for a RAID 0 setup, but 2 times now Martix Storage Controller has reported that one of the drives is failing, have removed both drives from the array and scanned them and are both completely fine, so the problem must lie with the raid on my mobo.

What sort of RAID controller would i need that would make my RAID 0 setup stable, i dont want to have to spend stupid money just something that will do the job properly unlike my IP35-Pro!?

Would the, Adaptec AAR-1210SA SATA Raid Controller 2 Channel, be up to the job??

Not really, as it uses a PCI interface (133MB/s), basically your read/write speeds will be greatly reduced, and probably not much more than 50MB/s.

When setting up the RAID using the Intel controller, did you use the latest drivers/manager/chipset drivers/software, if not have a look Here and Here

Yeah i used that latest drivers, although i notice there is a alpha driver out now, but dont think i should us that over, Version 9.1.0.1012 WHQL ?

I take it, when install vista 64, you use the, ICH7R/ICH8R/ICH9/ICH10 8.6.0.1007 drivers, via the 'Drive Options'??, when you are given the option as to what drive to install vista onto...

Errr, hang on, i though you used, ICH7R/ICH8R/ICH9/ICH10 8.6.0.1007 driver during the start of a Vista installation, and then Version 9.1.0.1012 WHQL (chipset drivers) in Vista after it has been installed followed by the Intel Martix Storage Controller program??

Correct!

(my mention of the Intel chipset drivers was so that you wouldn't use the alpha driver, AFTER vista install)
