Hi

I see on the Intel H77 motherboards they offer SATA RAID - does this mean the boards have an on-board RAID controller which means you dont have to purchase a dedicated RAID PCI Card?

if so, can anyone tell me what they perform like?

thanks

The Intel southbridge controllers are absolutely fine for RAID0 & RAID1. For RAID5 where there's a large processing overhead they're better than they used to be but still not a patch on a proper caching controller.
