On an older system that is....
I had two SATA drives in striped RAID on my system. It's a Socket A Abit AN7.
I used to dual boot...boot from SATA=Vista
Boot from IDE=XP.
It worked ok for months. Recently I've basically moved this system over to my Silverstone media enclosure. I've added a silent graphics card also.
BUT...I've had no end of problems. BSOD, driver incompatibiliies etc.(even though I was expecting just to move the components and boot up!!!)
Lots of the problems seem to stem from the SATA/RAID system. I suspect a dodgy connector. But even allowing for that there seems to be loads of hassle on this older system.
But the question is this?
Is it worth the hassle?
Win Vista give HDD performance as 5.9 in striped mode. windows on a single drive give 5.7. Which makes me think it's not worth the hassle.
In fact bearing in mind it's primarily a media system should I just go back to using IDE for simplicity's sake? How much would performance drop off?
