Hi!
I'm running a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 on an Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 which I believe supports SATA II..

Well, up until now I didn't know about the jumper at the back of the harddisk so I was running it on SATA I assume, I've found out about the jumper and removed it - but I'm pretty sure I'm still on normal SATA.

So, how do I check? and if it's still on normal SATA... How do I upgrade to II?

Thanks in advance.

(Also, is there any harm in having 1 normal SATA hard disk and one SATA II disk?)

If you run something like HDTach or HDTune and note the burst speed then that should tell you if you are running at up to 300mb/s, in day to day use you'll probably never notice the difference.

Technically there is only one SATA standard but some features were added to the original which has led to some people calling it SATA II(which was the name of the committee who designed it). It is fine to have any mixture of disks and speeds working together.
