Thats only part of what we installed. An extra 16TB in total, only took 28 hours to format

Its a mix of 500GB and 400GB SATA disks, we put an extra 28 500Gb disks in yesterday, can't remember how many were already there.

Its an Hitachi SAN system, big boys toys. For storage of video.

Its RAID6, over 3 trays of disks. Each tray is a RAID group, with its own hot spare.

Its a SAN (albeit with only 2 servers and no switch in this case) all the clever stuff happens before the server goes near it.

Those "disks" are just LUN's presented to the server and are not physical disks at all.
