sata3 adaptor?

Hi

I have just placed an order for a samsung 830 256gig ssd I have a gigabyte mother board which only has sata 2, is it worthwhile purchasing a sata3 pci-e adaptor or will I not notice much difference?

You won't notice much difference tbh unless running bench marks. Will still be quick on a SATA 2 connection.

And if you aren't careful connecting via a PCIe adaptor could actually make things worse.

From the research i have done on this topic you need the very best of the sata 3 cards with x4 to be worthwhile. Generally it would appear that you are as well off to plug into a sata 2 port it seems.

i am using the 256 gig samsung 830 ssd for my main os and important programs
then my 80gig intel 25m for files along with my 2tb storage drive

do i need to enable caching or anything? or use any other drivers apart from the windows 7 ones?
