SATA3 SSDs

will they be able to make use of the increased bandwidth offered?

i'm looking to get an SSD but thinking i might wait till SATA3 ones are out - and prices drop a tad

The Crucial C300 makes use of it. SATA2 maxes out at 280MB/s afaik. So you would be cutting off about 70MB/s. I think with SSDs you will always be waiting for something else since they're such new tech.

yeah, i'm umming and aahing over it. i'm selling some older bits and bobs and hopefully will have enough to get something decent. something 40GB odd would do the trick i'd think. just enough for windows and the old 36GB raptor did the trick just fine
