I know this is a very boring subject I have searched the forum for an answer but cant see my exact problem discussed.

I have a Asus A8V deluxe mobo working with a WD IDE drive with XP SP1

It all works fine, added a WD250gb SATA drive as a second hard drive , set it up all OK it stores a bit of backup data. Now I would like to use it as my main C drive. Have imaged over ( using) Drive Image 2002 the old IDE drive to the SATA drive , I expected problems what with the change of controller etc. All the data has been transfered but on removing the IDE drive rearranging the BIOS boot order etc it will not boot. Fully expected this started playing with XP recovery console and the windows CD gave no joy .

I asssume I need a SATA driver but I thought as the SATA drive was seen and used under windows from the IDE drive when that was the boot drive it would work OK.

Comment SATA does seem a pain for no gain , good marketing ploy though, its making us all buy new drives. Think I will stick to IDE in future.

Any advice , is it some kind of boot problem? Yes I know I could reinstall windows , I do have the legal full version CD and sticker etc but its such a pain to reinstall all them drivers , settings and options.
