All i do is seem to post posts for help, but when its my first pc i have EVER custom built what do u expect lol!

I installed Windows XP onto my Maxtor 80GB hdd last week. This week i had a look at the C: and it said Max Space: 30GB, Free Space: 10GB.

I then remembered when i was installing this it came up with like a partition option as i was installing windows and not sure if i did it correctly or only partitioned about 30GB.

Basically to get back my 50GB will i need to reinstall windows and check when i go to the partition option to make it the whole HDD

Any advice would be good :)

Thanks,
Chris

Got to disk managment (right click 'my computer' the 'manage') and you should see able to see all of your drive there, and format the partition you say you can't see and give it a drive name and that should be it!

So basically it will show 2 drives in My Computer?

How do i get it to be on 1 with windows though?

Sorry just relealised what i sad there lol ^^

So basically just rename the rest of the drive say (F:) and if i run out of space on the C: just install stuff to the (F:)?

1) Yes

2) Reinstall everything or get a program like Partition Magic that can merge the two partitions

3) I would first use the F: drive to install games and apps etc, that way if you have to format the C: drive you don't lose everything.

so basically dutch guy,

have windows on C:

and games/aps on f: so if something happens on the C: i dont have to spend days installing d/ling everything again?

Will the other partition have windows on it already or is it just a drive ?

Basically yes, although not all games will work after formatting and reinstalling Windows, at least you get to keep savegames and mods that are installed in the game directories.

The other partition will just appear as another drive without windows, it will be empty after making it.
