What are your opinions on how games use the save function?
I've just *finally* finished eternal darkness. Now don't get me wrong, its a brilliant game (if not a little dull towards the end), but its taken me months of on-off play to finally finish it simply because at times i've done loads, died and had to start from my last save. Sometimes it added upto 20-30mins of play I had to redo, so I just turned it off and couldnt be bothered a lot of the time. Now its completely my fault since I should have saved more often, but games like this really annoy me. (Nevermind the fact that it doesn't let you save in battle).
Shenmue was quite annoying as well when you had to return to your bedroom to save all the time. Luckily you couldn't really die in that.
Save systems like that in GoW are much better. Short distance checkpoints which automatically save.
Although, I remember playing project IGI on the PC and I loved the challenge of having to complete a level in one bash.
Anyone else had any annoying save-game moments?
