Saving a HDD - Need help lol

Okay in my old pc... i had a 500 gig hdd with a lot of stuff on it...

got a new pc

stuck it in... using windows xp on both machines

i thought a simple process... i mean there is no windows or anything... its just a dump hdd

well windows says..... i need to format... the drive ... im like no I dont

so i thought okay... ill stick it back in my old pc and network it across

painfully slow but effective

well now my old pc is saying must format drive

im like "oh are"

any idea and what as gone wrong and more important any idea how I can save all the information

disk manager is saying healthy (active)

the only difference is that on file system its showing as blank not as ntfs

i find this strange as it came out of xp machine

into an xp machine... so im guessing it would have been nfts before when i formated it...

erm lol im using a program to get back the information

phoenix software and it shows the drive lol... as being fat 16

now coming from a an xp machine... i have no idea how the hell... its managed that
