Saving a mac Excel file 'without a password' on a pc?

I've got an Excel spreadsheet which I suspect was created on a Mac running excel. I'm editing it on my pc using Excel 2007 and I can't seem to save it 'without' a password being embedded in it??

The odd thing is that I can open the file perfectly on my pc. It doesn't ask me for a password. However when I email the file to my iphone it flags up as password protected and prompts me for one!?

How can I remove this bloody password? I've tried clicking on Save as/Tools/General Options and leaving the password to open and modify boxes clear (they already are!?) but the resulting file still prompts me to enter a password when viewed on a ios device. It's important this is solved as the file will need to be viewed on ios.

Any ideas anyone? It goes without saying that I don't have access to a mac with excel. :(

Have you tried using Save As? That way a completely new file will be created and it should get rid of any password stuff that was added on the Mac side. In fact you'll save it using the Excel 2007 format from the PC version so it should work correctly still on the Mac side of things.

If its a simple spreadsheet, open it, highlight all, copy and then paste it into a new/blank spreadsheet and save it as a normal spreadsheet.

Thanks for the reply guys. Yep tried both of those suggestions. Save As just carried over the same password settings. The copy n paste worked but did change the layout somewhat. I need to adhere to the originals and not change it at all.

What I have found that works is if I save the file as a Excel 97-2003 workbook. For some reason that doesn't save this hidden password setting, though the layout appears identical. Maybe I'll have to settle for that?

If it works like that and you can use it fine, then yeah settle for that ;)
