Saving money vs doing more

Having money will give you options and spending can give you experiences.

Totally down to you what you want to do with it but I'm fairly certain there are more that wish they had saved for mortgage/later in life than those that do not. It's about balance.

Completely agree with Gilly above, I wish I'd saved more when I was younger. We've never had less disposable income than now (our own decision due to wife staying home with young child) but we save far more efficiently than we ever have. I do wish we had more savings behind us though.

Enjoy life while you're young in my opinion.

Where's the point in having a ton of cash and having missed out on the best years of your life?

That feeling of looking at your saving accounts and seeing those extra zeros before the decimal point! Bliss! :D

When I didn't have money, I worried how I would buy things.
Now I have money, I worry about value for money, what to spend it on and where best to invest it. I can't win, it's just how I think of things.
I currently overpay my mortgage to whittle it down whilst keeping a lump in long-term investments.
Can always take a "mortage holiday" for a month or two if necessary.

I'm kind of single so it's easy for me to say and do without dependants.

I lived at home while I was at Uni and saved hard up until 28. Had fun here and there but probably not as much as my friends who for the majority spent most of their money.

Managed to buy a 3 bed property in London and now I can enjoy life more.

I wouldn't have it any other way but that's just me. It really depends on what you value.

The money you save early in life will work hardest for you, and benefit you for a very long time, way before any pension comes into play. So enjoy some of your freedom and money now, but be aware that the old cliché is true... before you know it you'll be 40 and wondering where all that time and money went.

Despite what a lot of people think, you don't have to spend all your money to instantly have "fun". This is pretty retarded. Just find a balance, go on holiday, but don't go on the most expensive holiday, buy a car but not the best you can get, buy a house, not the most expensive. It soon adds up.

You can have fun, live, save and achieve financial freedom, they are not mutually exclusive. Dont listen to all the people justifying why they spend all their money on ****e.
