This is nitpicking and an incredibly random question...

The bunker structures at the beginning of SPR which are so widely used across WW2 games and whatever other forms of entertainment; Were these based on real structures? I've seen many photographs of D-Day fortifications but never quite close to or as impressive as the ones we've become so widely accustomed to because of this film and games.

aint really played any WW2 games

only really played TFC and quake over last 15 years

The structures are fairly accurate. The actual events in taking them are somewhat altered to fit into films and games.

Bare in mind, SPR only focuses on one part of one of the five sectors the Americans landed at.

IIRC, Omaha is focused on because it was the worse of the 5 landing beaches, and the sector featured in films/games had no tank support. I'm sure someone can correct me if I got it wrong.

Theres a lot going on there, you can see where the 88's would have been etc.

You can also see various ships which were destroyed during the evacuation.
