Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

@Sinbad2000 how are you measuring your import/export?

I have a Glow cad, which gets my import/export data directly from my smart meter, it always matches Octopus, my inverter on the other hand measures about 5% out.

Powerwall gateway measures it, and reports it to the NetZero app. Gateway accuracy specification is +- 0.5%
Confirmed numbers using the Octopus usage stats on their portal.

Well it's a mystery then.

My daughter doesn't have solar, or a battery, not sure she even makes an effort but still gets the happy hours.

I'm not doing very well...

To be fair it's always during a time we need to cook, or do stuff, and sadly work and school times can't really accommodate the times they offer. Ah well it's only for some points, it's not a big deal.

It was never worth it unless you had a battery which you were going to export anyway.

Even the free energy sessions are bit noddy, especially for those with batteries because you are not using any peak rate electricity at this time of year anyway.

The savings are really very small in reality.

Edit: I’m going to sign back up to axel tonight now I’m not in the octopus regime.

It actually works better for those without batteries, my daughter saves enough to get the free sessions, and uses them for doing washing and cooking, she probably gains/saves more than me.

I use the free energy sessions to charge my battery up. I get 6kw of charging into the batteries, so it's worth about 36p per hour to me :D

EVERYLITTLEHELPS :D

I do the same, if I home I usually manage to use pretty much 16 kWh each happy hour session, 7 into the car, some into the house batteries to replace what I force exported, washing machine one session, dishwasher the other and hot water boost.

No idea what it saves/earns, car charging is a 92p saving over the two hours, and so far I have almost £19 of Octo points, not a lot compared to a few years ago, but as you say every little bit helps.

I have a battery and use predbat which is aware of the saving sessions and often does export, but typically I also use electricity during that time too.

Ah well not that bothered despite the rubbish weather I'm still spending less than I would be.

Showing normal slot times now, and I've got one happy.

The cars not going to be around to charge again on Sunday, do I save the one for next weekend, or will I gain two more happy hours next week???

I have two hours to use, but I won't be able to charge the car either. Its getting a bit late in the day to be saving them now, so may just use them anyway.
