Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

They'll accept bids of just 72p/kWh but will happily give £12 million (£5000 per MWh) to fire up two gas power stations for three hours. Its working well then.

I guess its going to take some time to settle down.
What the likes of Octopus need to do is understand a bit more closely how large the requirement is likely to be.
Yesterday was exceptional so exceptional pricing took hold.
Previously they over priced themselves even though they bid similar to yesterday.

The last I saw all the generators got paid the same per kwh so maybe they changed the model again. Or, these special ones work to differing rules. (Or of course both those things)

Cant say I am unhappy with 72p a kwh. I would do that every single day given the opportunity :)

I'm opting in but won't be doing any exporting and right now as I post charging house batteries as I have a power up from 2-4pm
Its utter madness :)

I will have a baseline above zero so may as well get a few free pennies.
Plus IMO its not just people not signing up in volumes like before but also the impact of lots of people signing up but saving naff all.
Should help send the message that if they want to see a real drop they need to stop paying lolworthy amounts.

Edit, the streamlit app says my baseline is 0.22kwh. Will work out what to blow my 3p (rounded up) on a bit later in consultation with the missus ;)

IMO Octopus are making a data point table so with various prices paid they can plot a line.
Again IMO NESO are being daft as when they really need it, IE need a decent amount then if they only accept pennies bids they won't get any decent amount.

In the previous ones up till this year Octopus did the heavy lifting, I bet most of the saving/export has dried up.

I am starting to think CT here and that someone senior in NESO owns a lot of fossil fuel shares ;)

I gave them 2kwh. I need most of my charge to get to 12:30.
My usage is slowly coming down though as my chia farm shrinks and I sell the drives.

Set my export rate to 3kw at 6:20pm

In sad news my Octopus balance has dropped to £30odd so unless I can make bank over the summer then I am going to have to start paying a sensible amount next winter.
I have been paying £20 by DD since last year.
Less powerups, less free sessions, naff all for saving sessions all hitting my balance.

Will be checking agile out again mid March.
