Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

Been a very poor day, but my battery is at 99% so plenty to export.

I noticed they only put the Octopoints in the email, not how much they're worth, 104 Octopoints equates to 13p per kWh
 
I've not bothered with any of these since they slashed the rates.

The free elec is a pain as well as they want me to plug the car in to get it, instead of just letting me have free elec.

I still like Octopus but it feels like taking advantage of these types of schemes is less worthwhile, so I just don't really bother anymore.
 
For solar and battery owners, the saving sessions are always worth it because it's easy to participate and it's always a profit, even with the low payouts. For people without generation, I probably wouldn't bother honestly. Unless you have a really high baseload you can offset, you'll make almost nothing.

You don't need to plug in for free sessions though, you get the free household usage regardless. You just also get the free charging if you also plug in (or the credit for it if it doesn't charge in the window)

Just remembered the saving session, set the schedule up earlier today, just checked and we had a baseline of 0.02 kWh, so with what we exported that makes 7.41 kWh, a grand sum of an additional 96p. I would have exported that any way, just later in the evening, so worth having.
 
I plugged mine in and got exactly 23:30 to 05:30. :p

Managed to send about 2.6kWh in the saving session.
