Saving Sessions / Demand reduction thread

I’d noticed that my usage hadn’t updated in the Octopus app hadn’t updated since last Sunday, which apparently is a gremlin in the system and also means they didn’t get my usage figures during the saving session.

In the spirit of fairness, according to the email, I’m thus being awarded 1 free hour tomorrow from 1pm.

This is kind, considering I had two air conditioning units, my dishwasher and washing machine running during the eclipse… :D

11:00 to 12:00 for me too.

It is forecast to be cloudy here aswell, so I'll force discharge 12kWh or so beforehand, then force charge at 11:00 and bump the car for an hour too. Should be able to use 12kWh minus the solar, the house load and 7kWh for the car. Won't get to the 16kWh but shouldn't be too far off unless the sun is out.

Battery charging at 13.1kW and Car at about 5kW. That's about 80A. Will stop the batteries a little earlier so I don't breach the allowed 16kWh.

I'm only generating 1.9kW at the moment so it's pretty good timing for this free hour!

Almost got my batteries down to 50%, that should give room for the solar generation, and to import some into them, car will be charged, hot water boosted, dishwasher on etc. Just need to be mindful of the 16 kWh limit, although I doubt I can pull that much.

Currently got just under 5kW of PV power.

I didn't do as well as @reef as I only managed to pull 14.73 kWh, the sun came out 13:40, and at one point I had 12.76 kW of solar briefly, and I saw peaks of 240 to 250 amps going into the batteries. My algorithm is designed to limit the current into the batteries to a maximum of 200A IIRC. We had 5.18 kWh of solar in the hour.

We pulled in only about 10.5kwh in the end as the sun came out.

Produced 3.6kwh @12p so we ‘saved’ overall about 30p (in counting import at 7p as that’s my marginal cost at this time of year).

Worth it :p

So how are the free sessions shown on bills? Do they just exclude what you use or show the total spend including and then give you a refund for the free electricity?

Signed up as it's a pretty good time for me.

Anyone on here using Axel energy? Any issues with it? £1/kWh sounds very good indeed.
