I was joining the M4 this morning at junction 12 (about 8:35), when i saw a chap in a Honda HRV get cut up by a lady in a horse box lorry type thing. She cut into his lane and hit his nose and removed his wing mirror, and pushed him off the road!

I was following behind her, and was expecting to have to wait whilst she got out, and caused an obstruction on what must surely be one of the busiest roundabouts in the county.

However, she decided that stopping would be a bad idea... She carried on driving, and joined the M4, with me following, i had got her reg plate, and wanted to try and get her to stop. I was tooting, signalling, and pointing for her to pull over. I dont know why, but i was insensed! (sp?) The poor chap then came up behind me as i joined the motorway behind her (enforced 50 limit), and i could see as i drove on that he was beside her and trying to talk to her. She was ignoring him, and drove past two junctions and a services before his motor gave up the ghost and he had to pull over.

I reported is to the police when i got into work. But, what i want to know is, what is the penalty for such an offence?

She was probably scared to stop with some random guy blasting the horn and pointing for her to pull over. Sure she has 24 hours to report it to the police herself?

ballcocks, you hit someones car then you stop - if the guy she hit then caught up with her and she still ignored him.. silly cow.

did you speak to the other driver? you may be able to help him as a witness.

I have not spoken to the guy directly, but the police say that when he reports it, they will inform him that i have given my details, and forward them on to him. I wanted to stop to speak to him, but i got pre-occupied with getting the reg plate, then later is was not safe to stop on the motorway.
:( I just hope he reports it!

I got hit by a horse box in the wifes Merc a few months back. It was on a roundabout and she cliped my back bumper. I hooted and waved her down and she gave me the finger. Reported it to the police and found out it was a known gypo wagon.

Known but still on the road, makes you laugh really.

If you hadn't noticed that you had hit someone and you were female, and a couple of blokes were trying to get you to pull over, you wouldn't. Heck, I'm not a small guy by any means but I'd have doubts about it myself!

I'm not condoning her actions as she should have realised she had hit someone, or at least not dived across in front of someone - that's a given - however I can sympathise with people being a little put off by strange activities in spite of their ignorance.

That would be considered as failing to stop for an accident - hopefully the other chap that was hit will have her number plate too. That and Malty's statement should be enough - certainly if the damage hasn't been touched by the HRV driver.

Had a 7.5ton horsebox go down the back/side of my old range rover a while back, ended up settling with the guy as knock-for-knock (country road and the only witness was a friend of his). I should have taken him really, I was stationary when he hit me and the car infront. He stopped though :)

if you can hit someone and not realise then you are ****wit and deserve to be hounded. To hit someones car hard enough to knock them off the road causing enough damage to car that it became undriveable after trying to catch up is just bloody stupid. She would've known what she'd done.

And even if you are scared of other drivers, if someone is beside you obiviously trying to get your attention the least you can do is roll down the window to see what they want. They're not going to rape/murder you through a slightly open window are they

hope she gets caught and banned

If he drove into the back of you how on earth did his insurance company manage to wriggle out of that? Unless you pulled out of a side turning right in front of him?

I never said anything to the contrary - however I merely stated that I doubt a woman who thought had done nothing wrong would stop for some guys hounding her.

I agree she's a complete idiot and shouldn't be driving if she couldn't notice something as obvious as that and also for such poor driving. However this was not the point I was trying to make. In total ignorance would you pull over for some mad looking bloke?
