Say Hello To My Little Friend....

Trackpad, button or no button? How are you finding the screen resolution compared to the MBP which is obviously higher.

The trackpad is not as smooth as the glass, but a lot smoother than others I've come across. It is a button along with bottom of the trackpad, right click - left click. I actually prefer the button instead of pushing down on the glasspad on the MBP, it just makes it feel more precise?

It is nice and big, and also includes the finger gesture etc, which I've used more on this than I did on the MBP. I'm going to see if I can set and custom ones soon.

Screen is as bright and as crisp as the MBP, I don't know the specs between the two panels but I'd say the same? LED of course.

Screen res. isnt as obvious as you might think. Perhaps the widescreen nature of the res makes up for that. Webpage viewing etc is 'normal' to me as was on the MBP. Maybe you scroll down a little more but thats about it.

I wonder if a skin is a worth while investment for it? Certainly a decent case is needed as it's going to be taken to work with me on occasions to have a blast in dinner hour etc. Especially now I can tether along with my beauty! (iPhone) :D

I would have thought a sleeve or something to carry it around in would be good enough rather than a skin which in my opinion will make it look a bit rubbish.

Dont hide the looks of the Air. ;)

There's a very attractive leather sleeve you can purchase on the manufacturers website. :) it's around £100 I think.

A very quick demo, interupted by my dad no less.

Selected wrong res. but you get an idea! At the time of this typing the video is still processing.

:)

Your dad coming in was priceless. :p

Got the Flatout 2 demo ready to try out my Macbook. Is your Air faster than the base uni-body Macbook (2ghz)?

Cheers

;)

I was going to go for a MBP but I'm tempted by these now. Can't believe how much they've come down in price.

I realised that I don't really do much gaming or anything CPU intensive. So for a student who's going on facebook, using iTunes, a bit of occasional photoshop... is it blisteringly quick or can you feel it struggling?

Cheers

I think the Macbook Air is pretty good but for me I just preferred to have something a little more complete (for want of a better word) and so got a Macbook. Does me fine but I think I will have to give the Macbook Air a go, next time I am at an Apple Store.

What sounds interesting are the rumors of a new line of Apple Netbooks but then again it is just a rumor so we will just have to wait and see.

I never spotted the video before. Flatout 2 - Any good?

I have yet to purchase it, but yea good little game. Have a look on fleebay for it, as I will.

Just finished my second campaign on Red Alert 3 on the MBA, whoever said you can't play games on this machine is mistaken.

Great little system it t'is!

It seems pretty likely that it will be a tablet-like device. Something like a netbook doesn't suit Apple at all in my opinion, it wouldn't have a big enough profit margin and if they try to create a big profit margin, they are touching MacBook prices and cannibalizing sales of that product.

Well I remember in the article that I was reading that they suggested it would look something like this:

If the forthcoming tablet looks anything like that, I'll be munching on one of my many hats.

Incidentally, here's one of my first attempts at a race with FlatOut 2 (settings maxed). What happened at the end surprised me!

(it's still processing, quality may be a bit iffy)

Ouch! :p And if that's running on a MacBook Air then those kind of detailed graphics are very impressive indeed!

Also while on topic, I don't see Apple bringing out a line of Netbooks anytime soon. I think that Slogan has the correct reasoning.
