Happy Xmas Everyone - hope you are all having a good day :D

OK so I know this is a bit finger in the air stuff and no-one knows what will happen in a years time..

I know that SB-E doesn't really see any benefit when using memory above 1600Mhz speed. My question is over buying memory now and trying to futureproof it a bit for upgrades.
If I buy 2133Mhz or evn 2400Mhz RAM, will it be a better idea for when Ivybridge-E comes along? Im guessing that if 1600Mhz is the base speed for SB-E, then maybe 1866Mhz or even 2133Mhz will be the base speed for IVB-E??

Are there any specs for IVB-E out yet? Im buying now, with a view to upgrading to IVB-E in a years time and would ideally like to avoid having to upgrade my memory as well

Thoughts?

1866 should cover you for ivy-e and sb-e while remaining reasonably cost effective.
Ivy is roughly 10% faster than sandy and a fair amount of the need for memory speed comes from the igp, which sb-e (and highly likely ivy-e as well) doesn't have.
Quad channel should keep things happy with anything 1600 or better, it's just down to how much you are willing to spend to go over 1600.

FWIW I picked up a 16gb quad.ch 1866 gskill kit for £85 a couple of weeks back and am using it in my x58 setup until ivy rolls outs. The speed is nice to have but it's the capacity/£ that sold me.
