Hi

We can't get mail for exchange working on our nokia phones. Our IT support company say that the settings they have given us are correct & it must be a fault with the phones & our phone supplier says it's a fault on the server side.:(

Thes settings we have are:-

· Username: as domain login

· Password: as domain password

· Domain: oursite.co.uk

· Secure connection: No

· Access point: Contract Wap

· Sync while romaing: Yes, always

· Use default port: Yes

· Exchange server: xx.xx.xx.xxx (our static IP)

Do these settings look correct to you?

The error in the log on the mobile phone is:-

Status: invalid username or password. checkl the username or password in profile>credentials

Please help!

I don't know if it's relevant but we access webmail using https://webmail.oursite.co.uk/exchange

How do you have the authentication working on the webmail access? do you default it to a domain or do you rely on the user entering domain\username?

We enter our domain username/password

Using a root signed certificate or a self signed one?
How do I tell?

When using webmail I always get the 'There is a problem with this website's security certificate.' page but I've always had this.

MFE did work for a week and we then changed ISP to and it stopped working. The IP we use in the MFE settings is the new one.

one of my customers uses a service similar to this, from t-mobile, with their blackberry devices. it was setup before i became involved with them. we very occaisonally get an issue similar to this. each person who uses the service has a login to the t-mobile website which holds their account information for their blackberry device and the owa settings of the server. there is then a verification process within the website to activate the service. it's this 'link' which ties together the blackberry user to their owa account. the t-mobile service doesn't use ip addresses anywhere in it's configuration though, it just uses the url of the owa server using the fqdn. the way we have fixed this in the past was to login to the t-mobile website and re-run the verification process - as simple as logging into the t-mobile account, clicking on 'verify' and then providing the login credentials again. do you have something similar to this with your mobile provider?

Is your exchange webmail a VHOST on that server? You will need to enter the URL to the exchange server instead of the IP for it to work.

Ish,
What Nokia's are you using? Have you got the Mail for Exchange app on the Nokia phone?

I have setup many Nokia to sync to SBS 2003 / Exchange with not a problem.

As a test on the Nokia Web Browser can you see the Exchange OMA Site (http://yourdomain.co.uk/OMA)

Rob

As has been said the exchange server must be a URL not an IP and the certificate must be issued to that name.

If it is self signed, you will need to install the certificate on the device, if it is issued by a trusted root CA (verisign etc) you wont need to

From my working MfE settings on my N82:

Connection Page:
Exchange Server: Server FQDN (e.g sbs.oursite.co.uk)
Secure Connection: Yes
Access Point: Your GPRS Profile
Sync While Roaming: Yes, On Peak Only
Use Default Port:Yes

Credentials
Username: Domain Username
Password: Domain Password
Domain: Domain name in NT4 style (e.g. OURSITE for outsite.co.uk)

If you're using a self-signed certificate - and 95% of those using SBS 2003 are (including us), then you'll need to convert the certificates into a format that the Nokia phones understand.

The certificates rsside in the network share: \\yourservername\clientapps\SBScert - If you're running SBS 2003 Premium, then there are two certificates in there - sbscert.cer and ISAcert.cer.

Fortunately, a very helpful guy has created a website to convert them for you. Go to http://symcaimport.redelijkheid.com/ and upload each of the certificates via the form.

Once uploaded, make a note of the urls it generates and then open them on the Nokia phones via their web browser (a bit of a pain I know but it's a one-time job).

BTW If you're using N-series (N95, N82) devices with MfE rather than E-series (E71, E73) then you'll need to disable advanced security for mobile devices in Exchange System Manager. Let me know if you need to know how to do that.

I wonder if our support company read OCUK!

They have sent an email saying they made a mistake and gave us the wrong settings!

The changes to the settings I posted are:-

domain - leave blank
exchange server - webmail.oursite.co.uk

Sorry for wasting your time guys but I appreciate that you tried to help me
