I get this message when I try to logon to the server. No users can logon either and I can't ping the server's IP.

Any ideas?

Ok, lets get you getting a ping response from the server first.

Is the server on ;)

Goto a client and see if it has an ip address, if not assign a static one and try then.

Is the switch turned on?

Fixed it.

The person responsible for the server (He's the financial director!) turned the TS on but not the DC after the power cut.

Even though I asked him if both servers were powered up he 'epic failed' to do the most basic of computer related tasks.

He did ask in his self inmportant way "How will I know if the server is on should this happen in the future" I said "Checking if the power light on is a good starting point"

Only a 20 mile round trip which was worth it :)

Yes mate, spot on.

Bit annoying as I'd asked him to make sure both servers are on and I had to take his word for it. He's a home PC expert (or so he says) Obvisouly home PC's power lights are different to the servers lol
