So.. As part of my job I'm looking at the UK SC2 scene and trying to figure out.. where it is?..

I'm part of Nordrassil Radio (sorry if this is advertising, but just want to state where I'm from more than anything) and we're looking to get something happening in this area, with the help of people like Multiplay (iseries), Apollo and hopefully more in the future.

So I'm posting here to try and find the people interested in this scene, and get to know you all, see if we can make some ties and get it growing!
We're also trying to put forward some tournaments/content with a focus on UK SC2-sports and hopefully getting even bigger names like DeMuslim, Bling, Totalbiscuit and more!

So if you're interested in any of this please make yourself hea.. seen, and we'll be able to get an idea of how many people are interested!

The UK esports scene in general is pretty much non existant.
In SC2 DeMuslim moved to america, Apollo spends more time commenting than playing and the only other english claim to fame is TB who is hardly inspiring.

As for sc2 on this forum? people play it but there in the minority and those that played it heavily in the past have either stopped or are litterally doing the bare minimum each season.

this is proabably better placed on TL.

I've been looking into TL as well, the idea of this thread is to get an idea of its spread, specially with this being a UK forum I'm hopeful that it can provide at least something helpful.

I spend a lot of my free time in the evening watching SC2 on YouTube. From my point of view I'm very interested in e-sports and would love to see the scene grow in the UK. I feel there is a lot of potential with e-sports. Probably a case of he who dares wins by making their mark first in UK.

If you could get people like TB (but imagine his time is limited) and Apollo, these guys as you know are the figureheads in UK.

What are you interested in doing? Setting up a tournament or just reporting on the scene?

Currently we're looking to set up a weekly show with elements similar to State of the Game and Day9, with special guests etc.
Also looking into setting up tournaments for the EU scene, with *possibly* some live finals in the UK

There are a number of SC2 EU clans (haven't come across any UK based ones yet).

Dignitas are the only serious team that have a UK base

I'am a huge fan of e-sports, followed the Quake scene for years and now the Moba/SC2 scene. I watch SC2 streams constantly as well as pay for all the tournament content such as MLG/IPL/GSL and would very much be interested in seeing E-sports in this country grow. We only really have Multiplay over here and E-sports in general has never really grown over here even though we've produced some good talent such as Demuslim/Bling recently.

but there already is a weekly show hosted by TB in the format of SOTG....I feel like your trying to get into a market thats already been taken by all the big pop characters in sc2.
tournaments exist through the i series and dreamhack being the 2 biggest ones.
You need a lot of money and a lot of support to even pull anything like this off.

TB's weekly show has nothing to do with SC2. There is nothing similar to what we're doing anywhere, it only takes elements from SOTG and Day9 Daily.

We as a company have already done tournaments on similar and bigger scales than we're intending to do with SC2 and are well aware of the work that goes into them. But thank you for your concerns.

The short answer would be non-existent

In the case of SC2 in particular, its simply too much hassle for event planners to intergrate SC into their tournament circuits because of the hoops you have to jump with blizzard.. who clearly don't want anybody but themselves or their affliates running tournament circuits for their games.

I think there may be a Uk section on TL as I remember seeing a uk university tournament on there.

It would be nice to have a few more uk tournaments even if they weren't high level.

If you need any technical help I may be able to help out as I've worked in live tv in the past. :)

Would be interested in having a chat if thats possible.

Since it would seem I can't contact you privately in any way, drop me an email at [email protected]

And TL have very few forum sections, its mostly done in threads which are clusterf***ked with things that aren't very important :(

1. yes it does - he often has guest on from the sc2 community and pretty much always devotes a section of the show to the game.
2. nothing similar to what your doing? and what is that exactly? because all you seem to want to do is do a weekly show on sc2 - how is that any different to whats already available?
3. and if your so experienced why the heck are you asking on this forum with all but about 10 people that play sc2 and not TL which has a much bigger UK sc2 community.

madness

1. Hes had Husky on, thats 1/5 guests or something, and hes also head of TGS not just an SC2 baller
2. The TGS podcast is a talk show, as is SOTG, we intend to do things beyond that
3. We are. If you had any experience you'd know you have to spread your creep over the internet in order to get the fastest expands possible
